codeit Data Tools are used at individual project level for specific actions such as deletion, backup or other miscellaneous actions such as updating languages. They can be accessed from the administration area by choosing a specific project, then selecting 'Data Tools' on the right-hand menu. For explanations of the screen options for each data tool, click here.
Area | Tool | Description | Usage |
Deletion | Delete Records | Sometimes it is necessary to delete specific records from a project. In order to delete record(s), you will need the IDs of each record you wish to delete. This is the unique identifier provides on import of the data. | Enter the IDs of the records to be deleted into the text box (one per row) and select the wave you wish to delete them from in the dropdown beneath. |
Delete Coded Data | This data tool is used in conjunction with the Inconsistency Check export. For more information on this export, please see this article. This data tool lets you to uncode (remove assigned codes) either for an entire coding task of for specific workloads identified by workload ID. This may be needed when inconsistencies have been detected in coding certain brands with different codes, for example. Workload IDs are provided through the Inconsistency Check export which are then used here. | On this page, choose either a task to remove all coding from, or choose workload IDs you wish to uncode then paste them into the text box (one per row), then click the 'Delete Coding' button.
Delete Translations | This tool allows you to delete all translations that exist for a selected set of variables. This applies to translations regardless of whether they were imported, entered manually or created using the auto-translate function. | Select the variable(s) for which you need to delete the translations then click the 'delete translations' button. Note: Only variables marked for auto/manual translation will appear in this tool.
Backup | Backup Projects | A simple tool enabling you to back up your project on the codeit servers. | Click 'yes' to back up and confirmation will be emailed once complete. |
Misc | Import Resources | This tool provides the ability to attach images to the codes in a codeframe. This is useful, for example, in concept testing where you may wish to display an image of each concept as a context variable for the coders to view to assist the coding process. The interface is shown below: | Choose the codeframe for which you wish to display images, you will then see a 'select file' button next to each code, giving you the ability to upload an image to attach to each code. |
Reset Workloads | Occasionally workloads may become inaccessible when they remain attached to a coding session that has been closed, or ended unexpectedly. | Click on 'Reset Workloads', and if successful a dialog box will appear.
Collapse Variables | If you have imported a file but did not nest the data upon import, this tool allows you to retrospectively collapse a selected set of variables. | Choose the 'parent variable' (usually the first question in a set of nested variables), then click on the remaining variables to be nested within the parent.
Update Language | This tool updates the language for all records currently in a project. This can be useful if, say, you incorrectly imported a file as "Spanish" when the data is in "French". This tool enables you to change all records to "French" in one go. | Choose the new language from the list provided and press "Update". |
