What is a frequency report?

Frequency reports and cross-tabs show you the codes that have been applied plus the number and percentage of respondents who gave a verbatim answer with that code.

Why export a frequency report?

Whilst you may be using an analysis software for your main insights generation, it may be useful to get an early report on the main codes being applied in your survey.

Codeframe frequency report options

The Codeframe Frequency Report will produce an Excel workbook containing sheets for each coding Task. There are options that allow for multiple versions of the report based on Context variables, shared code frames, and nested data. For nested variables, each separate iteration can be displayed along with a total column.

How frequencies are calculated

Calculating the frequency values for each codeframe item is simply the number of times a code has been applied within the current scope (either all responses for the selected wave being coded or the selected question/wave/project being exported).

Example: What are your favourite drinks?

The frequencies in this case are;

Whilst frequencies are response based, percentages are respondent based.  So, for a given code, the percentage is the number of respondents who have this code applied divided by the total number of respondents with at least one code applied within the current scope.  The percentages in the above example are therefore calculated as follows;
