Introduction

The codeit "Sync Data" process gives you control over the flow of verbatim responses, or "Source Data" from and to your survey platform. In this context, "Source Data" relates to any variables selected as "Source Variables" in the Link Data Wizard.

Toggling Sync Direction

The codeit Sync Data dialog contains a section that allows you to control how your source data is synced.
You will see one or two arrows, depending on your platform (see below), illustrating the flow of data from your survey platform to codeit or vice versa.
Clicking the icon displayed on each arrow will toggle on/off the data flow in that direction.

Source data flowing from your survey platform, to codeit represents verbatim responses and context data being imported into codeit for coding.
Source data flowing in the other direction, from codeit to your survey platform, represents those same verbatims, having been edited in codeit flowing back to your survey platform and overwriting the original verbatim.

Additional Controls

In addition to controlling the flow of source data using the directional arrows, the settings tab also allows you to further control over the source data import.

The settings available are as follows:

  • Source Data To Load

Controls which interviews are loaded into codeit by the sync process.
The options available for this setting are:

    SettingEffect
All DataLoads all of the interviews from the survey in your platform
Data since last load Loads all interviews created or updated since the time of the last data sync
Custom Date RangeLoads all interviews created or update within a specified date and time range

  • Allow Source Data Overwriting
Controls how imports should be handled when an import results in overwriting pre-existing data with data that is different. The options available in the sync data dialog mirror those that exist in the import wizard, see here
