Introduction

We have made some changes to the way you kick off a coding session in codeit.

This page explains these changes, the reasoning behind them, and what this means for you.

What's Changed?

Previously, to start a coding session you would click the blue "Code" button, on the project dashboard:

Clicking this button would display a popup dialog allowing you to select the task or variable you'd like to code, the coding mode to use and any filters to apply to the data (e.g. languages, quantity, date etc..).

The "Code" button has now been relabelled as "Start":

Clicking this button will take you to a new, streamlined, "Start Menu" page:

Using this page you can still select the task/variable you'd like to code and the coding mode to use ( i.e. manual coding [block coding], brand coding [short text coding], quality checking [verify])
You can also filter the data (e.g. languages, quantity, date etc..) by pressing the "Filter Data" button.

So, essentially, the new "Start Menu" provides exactly the same functionality as before, just with a revised look and feel.

Why have we made this change?

User friendly design is very important to us and we are constantly seeking to improve in response to user feedback. A number of users have told us that the current "start coding" dialog is complicated and not intuitive. In particular, new users are often confused and overwhelmed by the various options, some of which are quite advanced, so we felt it necessary to streamline things.

Additionally, we have some exciting new features coming soon, and we need to create a layout that allows room for these.
